Names of new dances and their origin (where known) are given in this database. Dance notation is not published directly here.

Original dances from almost all of the ‘old’ traditions have been published and are freely available for any side to perform. Notation for dances in ‘new’ traditions or new dances in the style of old traditions will be held by the side that devised the dance, where the side is currently active. If a new dance has been published it can be assumed that it is available to be performed by other teams. Notation of many new dances may also be held by the national organisations, the Morris Ring, The Morris Federation and Open Morris. The following links will provide further information, which may not be limited to member teams of that organisation.

The Morris RingCotswold, Border, North West & Garland, Molly, Other
The Morris Federation (search categories can be entered)
Open Morris (No notation archive currently available)

If dance is shown as ‘restricted’ , please respect a side's decision not to share it with any other team. For new dances published or not marked restricted, please acknowledge & credit originating team when performing the dance in public. If the list of teams in the database performing a new dance the originating side is the only active one please obtain their permission to perform the dance.unless marked published.

Sides are strongly recommended to deposit a copy of notation of any new dance they devise with the appropriate officer in the national organisation of which they are a member – the New Dance Collator (Ring), Notations Officer (Federation) and Archivist (Open Morris), with authority to share if appropriate or withhold.
